The most effective way to stop the Harmonized Sales Tax is to send letters to Liberal MPPs; to Dalton McGuinty, the Premier; and to Dwight Duncan, the Finance and Revenue Minister. Below are a few short letters that we have drafted. Please feel free to use them either in part or in whole. Or, send your own letter to Dalton McGuinty. Letter One Dear Mr. McGuinty, The HST tax grab as it is currently proposed by your Provincial government is unacceptable to me as a consumer. Under the guise of “Harmonizing” the existing GST and PST taxes you are in fact adding an unprecedented 8 percent tax to many, many products or services that currently do not attract PST. Shame on you. We will not let you get away with this. We will not forget at the polls. Sincerely, Dear Mr. McGuinty, Re: HST What were you thinking? That we, the citizens of this fine province wouldn’t realize what you’re doing! Stop dreaming about burying a tax hike under the disguise of the HST. Haven’t you already broken enough promises? Drop the HST concept now... while you still can. Sincerely Letter Three Dear Mr. McGuinty, Re: The HST Tax Grab Don’t make my choice so simple!! a) Stop this tax grab all together. Now is a good time to listen. Sincerely, Letter Four Dear Mr. McGuinty, The HST spin. You may be thinking that we will become victims of the largest tax grab in the history of this province. Think again!! Don’t do it! Sincerely, Letter Five Dear Mr. McGuinty, RE: Taxes and the HST An extra 8 percent tax on Gasoline, home heating fuel, water, hydro, used cars, insurance, legal, accounting, recreation, Government and City services, commissions, minor sports! The list is endless. Today the choice is yours to make, tomorrow, the choice is ours. Have a nice day. Sincerely, |
